3 MONTHS HONG KONG HERE I COME

Tonight I am doing a presentation at my church about my time in Hong Kong last summer. I have broncitus so today I stayed home and read through my journal. It was so much fun reading and remembering all the adventures and stories that happened. I have no idea how Im going to present what GOd did over there in an hour tonight. Honestly last summer was the best 6 weeks of my life and I am soooo excited for this summer to see what GOd has instore for me over there again. THis week $300 of my support has already come in. Its so cool to watch God use other people to be part of such a greater work overseas.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror on the wall-
What will he see when he looks at me?

Mirror, Mirror on the wall-
Is he the Superman,
I've been waiting for?
Will he be the one
To see past these walls of insecurity?

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Do you speak words of truth?
Or are they all just foul lies?
Some days you scream at me
words of disgust, unworthiness and hate.

But then there are other days
When the sun beams through that open bathroom window

And I see a glimpse in the reflection
that whisper words
of beauty, perfection and purity.

Oh God, my Father-
Why must I so often trust the mirror of this world
to reflect the image of my worth?

Oh God, my Father-
Please help me to see that the reflection of my beauty
Comes from the very depths of my heart.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
Will you one day see the beauty of a girl
Whose heart is not fleeting,
Like the flowers of this imperfect world.

Teenagers are amazing

This poem is pretty profound. As a youth worker I found it really intriguing to be able to hear from a teenager a glimpse of how they perceieve the world.

Teenagers Are Amazing
By Jamie Haskins

Teenagers are amazing,
I wish the world could see,
just how beautiful we are,
how compassionate we can be.
I wish they could take back,
all the cynical things they've said,
and see how much we shine,
be positive instead.

Remark on our radiant smiles,
and the differences we make,
all of the people our lives have touched,
all of the chances that we take.

Notice how we change,
each and every day,
wanting to leave childhood,
yet desperately wanting to stay.

I wish they could remember,
how tough our lives can be,
the promises that are broken,
the violence that we see.

Yet still we venture onward,
unsure of where the road may lead,
hoping they will take notice,
hoping they'll take heed,
of the changes that we've made,
of the power that we hold,
of the wisdom we have hidden,
of the stories yet untold.

I hope the world will notice,
what some have already seen,
teenagers are amazing people,
striving to follow their dreams.

Its due time for an update

Hey Everyone, Im so sorry that I have been horrible at updating my blog. I doubt any of you even check it anymore but oh well...Things have been going really well lately. I've been connexting with a lot of students in the highschool lately and its been really exciting getting to connect with them more. A couple weekends ago I went to Stoney Creek to visit my adoptive family from Caronport. It was the oldest daughters ninth birthday so I suprised her and had a great night just hanging out with her and her family. It was so great to be with them again. The next day I got the opportunity to go to "Today's Youth Conference" in Oakville. It was such a great conference that helped me put things in perspective with what I do at Lakeside. The things I learnt that Saturday have been so helpful and encouraging over the past 2 weeks.
Last weekend my friend Debra (from my first year at BBC) came up to visit for the weekend. It was soo awesome to hang out with her and for my family to get to know someone who is so dear to me. We drove across Haliburton county looking for something to do Saturday night but we ended up residing to having our own 90's dance party and watching "Hitch". It was definatly a lot of fun.
We got TONS of snow here in Hali...if any of you want some feel free to come take a dump truck loadfull. We have at least 3-4 feet of it and we're supposed to get more this week. Linds and I got nicely stuck on a snowmobile trail last week because the car sunk through like half a foot of ice and snow (it didnt look deep when we drove on it)...oppps...so yah..thats a story in itself...but we got towed out and became the town lunch hour entertainment to some snowmobilers..hehe...anways you would have had to have been there...thats about all that is new with me. I love you all and miss you. Talk to you later
