August Update

Girls Day at the beach!

Wow, where has the summer gone!? On Monday we are taking 18-20 of our youth to Cypress Hills Campgrounds for a 4 days of camping. I can't believe it is that far along in the summer. The kids are so excited about going, many of them have said this is their favorite thing they do with Joe's Place. It's an opportunity for them to get out of Moose Jaw and escape the drama and trials of their life here and focus on positive relationships and growing closer to God. I've been asked to lead the first camp fire on Monday night. I am going to challenge the youth to take time to be still on their own over the week and seek God. Would you please pray that our youth would take me up on this challenge and that God would be faithful and meet them over this week?

The football game a few weeks ago was amazing. I had an amazing day of connecting with girls who I normally don't get to, because they are always running around trying to impress their peers. The day away gave me an opportunity to connect with and watch them take down their masks. Please pray that God would continue to provide opportunities for our staff to connect with the youth in this way and speak into their lives. They are filled with so much potential and it breaks my heart when they put up masks around their friends that are so insecure and fake. They have so much to offer the world and they just need to have their minds transformed by who God desires and has created them to be.


Also on the 21st we are having an old school reunuin. We have invited those who were youth who attended Joe's Place from 1993-2003 to come and be reunited. Please pray for this night as we have the opportunity to remind them of the friendships they had made at Joe's Place but also the God who brought them all together. We are praying and hoping in the fall we can have a monthly event for these old school friends of ours.


I'm getting really excited for our volunteers who have left for the summer to return to us, and also for the freshmen who God will lead to get involved with Joe's Place in the fall. As staff at Joe's Place we strongly feel God is going to do something new this fall and we're excited with anticipation to watch it unfold. There are new ministries beginning within Joe's Place (such as art, drama and student leadership ministries) and we strongly feel God is leading us to start up new mentorship programs for not only our youth but for our younger staff. Please pray for us as we feel like this is too big for us to handle and its so quickly approaching. But nothing is too big for us to handle if GOd is in it. So thankyou for faithfully praying for us.


Thankyou for your continued encouragement and prayers! Every time I hear from you my heart is filled with encouraged to know there are people all over this country praying for me and the youth of Moose Jaw. Thank you again for playing such a vital role in furthering God's kingsdom.
