A MOMMA UPDATE

Hey Everyone
Sorry for being so bad at updating my blog. I am going to try and update it once a week, but we'll see how that goes...hehe..
Well since I last wrote I have been all over the place. I left on August 21 to go to Cardston Alberta to help my friend Lindsey Kiemele get ready for her wedding. It was a ton of fun hanging out with her family and spending time with the other bridesmaids who were old friends from college. The wedding itself was beautiful and a lot of fun. We danced for hours and it made me miss my time in Hong Kong cause we danced to a lot of the same dances that we taught our campers this summer. The day after the wedding the maid of honour and I (her name is also Lindsey)went on a roadtrip across alberta. We were going to go to Montana but neither of us had been to Jasper or Edmonton so we thought that would be a lot more of an adventure. so sunday night we packed up our things and went to Edmonton and bunked with some other freinds from college. We went to the West Edmonton mall in the morning and survived walking through it without buying a thing(pretty impressive). We then went to Jasper and camped out there for a night. I didnt have a very good night sleep that night because there were elk all around or camp ground that were mating. it was very loud and to say the least very disturbing. The next morning we drove to banff stopping on the way to take pictures and to hike the columbia icefields (aka a glacier). It was a beautiful trip but definatly not long enough. I definatly could go back for a week and enjoy it a lot better.we didnt really have time to stop and enjoy the beauty but the drive was definatly amazing. We went to Calgary and met up with some other old college friends. another friend lindsay (i know i have A LOT of frineds named Lindsay. its soo confusing) and her boyfriend then drove me to Caronport which is where I am going to school. On the way we drove for 3 hours through a lightning storm. it was one of the most remarkable storms ive ever watched as i had a prarie view of the whole things which means the ENTIRE sky would light up from the lightning. It was amazing.
I spent the first week in Caronport at my friends Mel and Joels with their lil 7month old baby kariss. I had so much fun hanging out with them and just relaxing. I've now been in school for a week and adjusting well to being back in dorms. It was hard at first being back because the only girl on my hall i knew was my roomate laura and I just felt like I was back at beinig a freshman. But its going really well. I am making a lot of new friends through the dorm and also by being involved in the drop in center in moosejaw (its called Joes Place). I am really excited about volunteering there and seeing how GOd wants to use me and what he wants to teach me this year.
Im still really missing hong kong. I think about my time there several times a day and it often either brings a kiddish smile to my face or it makes my eyes welled up tears. I miss my friends and my team mates so much and its hard at times being here and not having anyone to understand the experiences i went through this summer. Sigh...its all good though. Im glad I have email and the phone so i can stay in touch with many of them.
anywho I need to go make lunch and then read before class. I hope your all doing well. i love and miss you all tons.
Keep it real
LEANNE
